We are all longing for that one miraculous skincare product that feels like a facelift in a bottle. Something that will instantly make us look youthful and radiant, and leaves all our friends and family wondering how we look so damn good.
Luckily, a range of skincare experts and beauty artists know the secrets to taking ten years off your look in a few easy steps without requiring a nip or a tuck.
1. Take the chop
Getting a new hairstyle is enough to make anyone bounce back. Lighter tones look youthful and can take years off your age. Of course, blonde doesn’t suit everyone, so make sure your new colour matches your skin tone and isn’t too far from your natural colour. Celebrity hairstylist Frederic Moine recommends asking your colourist for warmer tones during your next visit. It will help conceal those pesky greys and brighten your complexion.
2. Lighten up
Your skin is one of the biggest giveaways of ageing. Dark circles can make you look tired, dull and dreary. Benefit’s head makeup artist and brow expert Lisa Potter-Dixon praises concealer for its magical ways to instantly take years off your skin. Apply it to your under eyes, around your nostrils and the corners of your lips to create the illusion of an expensive facelift, says New York makeup artist Mally Roncal. Concealer will dramatically brighten up those dark circles and form contours to build definition.
3. The cheek of it
Fancy another tip for a cheap and easy facelift? Blush will give your skin a healthy boost and instantly lift your cheekbones. Our skin loses collagen as we age and causes our cheeks to sag, quickly making us look older. Gabriel Chiu, a plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills, says you should choose warm pinks, apricots or bronzes and apply using circular motions at the highest point of your cheekbone. A pop of colour is enough to revive your skin’s glowing complexion.
4. Brush up
As we age our eyebrows become thinner and lighter, whilst thick eyebrows are a sign of youth. Huda Kattan, the founder of Huda Beauty, favours a formula that mixes a pencil and a powder to get the most natural look. Starting with light brush strokes, the brow should end in line with the corners of your nose and eye to help lift the cheekbones and accentuate the eyes.
